Shanghai International Piano Festival and Institute

Calendar82From 16 to 21 of July the European Foundation for Support of Culture in cooperation with
the Shanghai Musician Association and with participation of the Professional Pianist’s Society, Steinway & Sons and Shanghai Foreign Experts presented the Shanghai International Piano Festival and Institute that will take place in Shanghai for the fifth time.
Shanghai is not only the biggest, but most multinational and dynamically growing city of China. Visitors to Shanghai can witness the past, present and future at the same time.
Zhe Tang, a piano professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, was the Artistic Director of the festival. The Shanghai International Piano Festival and Institute hosted a series of concerts with participation of famous European and American pianists, such as Doug Humpherys (USA), Nelson Freire (Brazil), Marc Silverman (USA), Derison Duarte (Brazil), Barry Snyder (USA), and famous Chinese pianists Ting Zhou, Chen Jiang, Xiao Luo, Sa Chen and many others. Another important event of the festival was a performance by the prominent Austrian pianist, Deutsche Grammophon’s artist Ingolf Wunder. He was  accompanied by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the distinguished conductor Liang Zhang. Works of Maltese and other European composers, as well as famous Asian composers, were performed. The festival events took place at the most high-profile venues of Shanghai: Shanghai Grand Theatre and Steinway Hall
