Kyiv Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra Tour in Latin America

EFSC-Calendar-2019 - ENG112On 28 May – 11 June, the European Foundation for Support of Culture together with the Dmitry Yablonsky Foundation and the Kyiv Virtuosi Orchestra  organised a Kyiv Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra Tour in Latin America.

Kyiv Virtuosi is Ukraine’s first independent orchestra. The long-standing friendship and collaboration between Ukraine’s best musicians, winners of international competitions and world-renowned cellist and conductor Dmitry Yablonsky prompted the artists, in 2016, to form Kyiv Virtuosi, a world-class chamber orchestra. The great performing talents of the orchestra’s members have made Kyiv Virtuosi Ukraine’s best-known orchestra. Each year, they give over 100 concerts in Ukraine and abroad, in particular, in Israel, Azerbaijan, Spain and Switzerland.

The tour’s inaugural concert was held on 28 May at the Santa Ursula Auditorium (Lima, Peru); then the orchestra performed at the House of Music (Quito, Ecuador). After that, they  traveled to Argentina and gave five concerts there: at the Teatro Círculo (Rosario), the Teatro Coliseo (Buenos Aires), the Teatro Solis (Montevideo), the Juan Victoria Auditorium (San Juan) and the Teatro del Libertador General San Martín (Cordoba). Kyiv Virtuosi  concluded their tour in Santiago de Chile (Chile) performing at the Teatro Municipal de las Condes and the Teatro de Carabineros.

Dmitry Yablonsky (US/Israel), principal guest conductor of the Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra and of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Visiting Professor of the Baku Conservatory and the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University,  conducted on the tour.

Armenian violinist Haik Kazazyan, winner of many international competitions, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition, was the soloist on the tour.

The tour programme  featured famous works by contemporary Argentine, Maltese and other European composers.
