Classic on Danube International Piano Competition and Festival

COD-alink 132x190On 18–22 May, the European Foundation for Support of Culture  held the “Classic on Danube” international music festival and piano competition in Vienna, capital of Austria.

Vienna has a reputation for its music traditions. More world-famous composers have lived here than in any other city: Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, great composers and conductors Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler. Every year, thousands of classical music lovers come to Vienna to attend the most famous music festivals.

The Artistic Director of the Classic on Danube is Nareh Arghamanyan, a famous Austrian pianist of Armenian origin, winner of the Montreal International Musical Competition.

The festival jury  included such highly-acclaimed musicians as Rico Gulda, artistic director of Oberösterreichische Stiftskonzerte, the famous Austrian music Festival, and head of concert planning and administration, publication management at the Wiener Konzerthaus; Cordelia Höfer, professor of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum in Salzburg; Stepan Simonian, Professor of the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre; Stefan Vladar, artistic director of the Neuberger Kulturtage music festival; Nareh Arghamanyan, artistic director of Classic on Danube.

The festival was held at Vienna’s renowned concert halls. Popular European orchestras and famous masters of classical music  performed works by Brahms, Schumann, Beethoven, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, as well as by modern Maltese composers.
