Tour of the St. Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra in Malta

Calendar66In June, the European Foundation for Support of Culture has organized a tour of the Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg State Capella in Malta; it took place in celebration of the Day of Russia under the auspices of the Russian Embassy and with support from the Russian Centre of Science and Culture.
The twelfth of June is a significant date in Russia, as the whole country
celebrates the Day of Russia. This is one of the newest national
holidays. The date of celebrations was established in 1994 by Boris
Yeltsin, the first President of Russia. The Declaration of State Sovereignty
of Russia was adopted on 12 June. In honour of this important event the Symphony Orchestra of the
St. Petersburg State Academic Capella had a tour of Malta with
performances in the best music halls of Mdina and Valetta, which hosts
the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2018. The orchestra was conducted by the Maltese conductor Alexei Galea Cavallazzi, graduate
of the University of Oxford and the Moscow State Conservatory. Arkadi
Zenziper, famous pianist from St Petersburg and professor of the Weber
High Music School in Dresden performed the famous Piano concerto no.
2 by Rachmaninov.
