In 2018 it was 190 years since the death of the great Austrian composer Franz Schubert. The European Foundation for Support of Culture together with the ArtEnsemble (Italy) organized an evening in memory of the renowned composer. The event took place with the support of the Marrucino Theatre in Chieti.
Franz Peter Schubert is one of the founders of Romanticism in music, author of approximately 600 Lieder (to the poetry of Schiller, Goethe, Heine and others), nine symphonies, and a large body of chamber and solo piano music. Schubert’s compositions have not lost their popularity and they are among the most famous classical music works.
Famous pianists performed at the jubilee evening of Franz Schubert, among them Alexander Kobrin, the winner of several international competitions, including the Busoni International Piano Competition and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, participant of numerous music festivals, such as the international festival marking the 100th anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev. On the Marrucino stage, Kobrin performed the most famous compositions by Franz Peter Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven who was a favourite of the composer.
